Caffeine For Your Mac

Caffeine For Your Mac

Who doesn’t love caffeine, I am a huge Mountain Dew Fan everyone knows caffeine keeps you awake well what about your Mac does it need caffeine? This free app over at the Mac App Store prevents your Mac from automatically going to sleep, dimming the screen or starting screen savers. Click it again to go back Right-click (or ⌘-click) the icon to show the menu. Caffeine is a tiny program that puts an icon in the right side of your menu bar. You access preferences and set a duration for Caffeine to work its magic (if only that was available for Mountain Dew!) The simple preference window lets you add Caffeine to your login items, display the preferences on startup, and set a default duration. The duration setting is particularly appreciated, since you don’t want to drain your battery unnecessarily just because you forgot to disable Caffeine. The Caffeine app will be welcome for anyone watching Movies, Videos, Working on a project to where you need your screen not to go dim or your Mac to go to sleep.  The Requirements for Caffeine are: Mac OS X 10.6 or later, Ever had your Mac go off to Sleep just when you left the room and forgot to come back in time? Or frustrated when you are in the middle of a download and it got cut off because your mac went to sleep when left untouched if so then give your mac some Caffeine all you have to do is launch the tool and click on the menu bar icon (which is a cup) and it fills with coffee; then it basically doesn’t allow your Mac to Sleep. And you won’t have to worry about your downloads, live webcam or direct-connection transfers from cutting off.  When you’re done, just turn Caffeine off by clicking the coffee cup, it empties and everything will be back to the way it was. And if you only need to temporarily turn off the Sleep function for a certain amount of time, Caffeine can do that for you too.  All you need to do is set the time for Caffeine to be active for and enable it after that period of time is over, Caffeine will disable itself, then your Mac will Sleep after the allocated time in Energy Saver preferences has elapsed.  This feature is exceptionally useful when say, you need to download a file and the estimated download time is 1.5 hours; you set Caffeine to be active for only 2 hours and it will Sleep your Mac after that. Give your Mac a boost of Caffeine and keep it awake while you watch your Movie (Now where is that popcorn app).
